Mairav Linzer, M.S.

Psychology Extern

Mairav Linzer, M.S. is a psychology extern at CBC where she conducts individual, family, and group psychotherapy with children, adolescents, and adults. She is currently a fourth-year doctoral student in the clinical psychology program at Long Island University (LIU), Post, Campus. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology in Stern College and her master’s degree in applied clinical psychology at LIU Post.

Mairav has received intensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Mairav has meaningful clinical experience with children, adolescents, and adults from varied cultural, socioeconomic, religious, racial, ethnic, and developmental backgrounds. She has worked with individuals presenting with a range of challenges and disorders including depression, anxiety, suicidality, self-harm, ADHD, OCD, trauma, borderline personality disorder and substance use. Mairav has worked with emerging adults in several clinical settings. Prior to her clinical externship at CBC, Mairav was a psychology extern at Northwell Health’s Zucker Hillside Hospital in the Behavioral Health College Partnership. At this site, she conducted individual and group psychotherapy with high-risk young adults within outpatient and inpatient settings. In the year prior, Mairav provided individual and group therapy at Iona University’s College Counseling Center, where she recognized her passion for working with this population. Mairav has also provided individual psychotherapy and conducted psychological assessments at the LIU Post Psychological Services Center (PSC), a community-based mental health clinic for underserved populations.

Mairav’s research work has focused on suicidality including the creation of a theoretical model for recovery from suicide. She is currently studying the association between an individual's reasons for living, treatment-seeking and disclosure patterns.
