Social anxiety groups fall 2021

We are excited to offer our social anxiety group program again this fall (in person TBD)! This program is designed to help adolescents and young adults reduce anxiety and boost their comfort, confidence, and competence in social and public situations.

The group uses CBT strategies to help participants gain a better understanding of social anxiety, challenge worry thoughts experienced in social situations, enhance conversational and assertiveness skills, and face their fears with practice of these skills in different real-life activities.

We will be running two groups: one for high school students aged 13-18 and one for young adults aged 18-26.

Both groups meet from 5-6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays for 12 weeks, starting Oct. 5.

If you experience:

  • Worry about what others are thinking of you
  • Fear and panic about attending parties or raising your hand in class
  • Avoidance of social situations
  • Loneliness and feeling disconnected from peers

...then you may benefit from this social anxiety group!

In this group participants will learn about:

  • Reducing anxiety in social settings through practice and real-life activities
  • Developing strategies for challenging worry thoughts experienced in social situations
  • Enhancing their conversational skills including starting, maintaining and ending conversations
  • Assertiveness skills and learning to say no effectively
