Dr. McGinn gave a talk titled “Understanding and Supporting Youth with Anxiety” to The Lower-Hudson Special Education Task Force at CBC’s Schwartzberg Training Center on Friday, April 13th, 2018. The Lower-Hudson Task Force is comprised of parents, school personnel. and community providers who are committed to improving educational access and outcome for students with disabilities through a collaborative regional and statewide network.
Dr. McGinn helped participants understand the nature and prevalence of anxiety and anxiety disorders. She discussed what makes people vulnerable to anxiety disorders, why it is on the rise in our teens, why anxiety disorders persist and affect individuals when left untreated, and how to treat anxiety disorders in youth using cognitive behavior therapy.
