Alexandra Chalfin, PsyD is a postdoctoral fellow at CBC where she conducts individual, family, and group therapy with children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of clinical presentations. She earned her Master's Degree in Psychology and Doctoral Degree in School-Clinical Child Psychology from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a minor in Hispanic Studies from Trinity College in Hartford, CT.
Alexandra completed her APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at NYC Health and Hospitals - Lincoln, a city hospital where she conducted individual and group psychotherapy as well as psychological assessments with adolescents, adults, and families in both outpatient and inpatient settings. She received intensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy throughout her graduate training. Alexandra is also intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She has experience providing psychotherapeutic services in Spanish with individuals across the lifespan.
Prior to her doctoral internship, Alexandra completed an externship with Dr. Steve Kurtz at Kurtz Psychology Consulting PC where she was trained in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) as well as PCIT for Selective Mutism (PCIT-SM). She also completed externships at Montefiore - Rose F. Kennedy's Children's Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center (CERC) where she delivered evidenced-based treatment and diagnostic evaluations, in both English and Spanish, to children and adolescents with developmental disorders, and their families.
Alexandra’s doctoral research examined job satisfaction and professional quality of life among Head Start teachers and staff. Alexandra is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA Division 53: Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology and Division 29: Society for the Advancement of Psychotherapy), Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT), and the National Association of School Psychologists.
